EUTV Drama: Tell Me

In my last year at Edinburgh University I entered a screenplay competition with the university television channel (EUTV) which resulted in the making of two-part drama Tell Me.

Writing drama for the screen was an amazing learning curve and an enjoyable, as well as stressful, experience. Balancing the needs of the story with the needs of the cast, crew and director was a challenge that kept me gripped.

Tell Me is a long way from perfect but, as a first effort at writing drama, I’m proud of it. The cast and crew did amazingly and we all learnt on the job together.

We tried to discuss mental health in our drama as it was then, and remains, hugely topical, especially among students. Edinburgh University particularly has been highlighted as a university with mental health issues among the student population.

I believe writing drama for the screen has helped me to become a more adaptable and creative writer.
